Sept 30th to Oct 10th, 2024: Jamaica Vacation (135 Photos)

We departed Torbay Airfield in the early morning hours Monday with a stopover in Toronto. From there we headed to the sunny south, final destination: Jamaica!

Travelling with Sandra and I were good buddies Natasha, Cory and their two kids. We were all super excited for sunny skies, warm temps and white sandy beaches, a welcome break from the rain drizzle and fog back home!

We landed at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay around 2pm local time then boarded our bus for the 1.5 hour ride Eastbound to our resort, Bahia Principe Grand in Runaway Bay.

Our bus stopped at two other resorts along the way to get other Air Canada Vacation passengers to their vacation destinations.

Bahia Principe is the largest hotel/resort in the country, it's also located on a much nicer part of the island nation than the first two resorts we dropped passengers off at.

Our room was impressive, spacious and very well appointed with a couch, king size bed and great washroom facilities.

We brought some snacks from home for those late night munchies!

Afternoon one, a bite to eat at the beach buffet, a little exploring and some time at the pool.

Supper was at the Jasmine buffet which usually reserved for the Luxury (adult only) side guests but this month was open to everyone as the grand side buffet was under renovation.

The shops at the Village were our favourite shops at the resort. The staff were much friendlier & helpful and prices much better than the shops inside the main resort building.

Evening entertainment was usually held on the terrace outside the lobby bar featuring musical acts of all description.

After having spent our morning at the main pool & swim-up bar, we spent the afternoon at the beautiful Grand Side beach.

After supper we headed to the lobby bar which is beautiful, bright and air conditioned! We started out with Yahtzee before turning our attention to the pool tables.

The tables were old, well used and had a hard life in a very humid environment. There were just two cues, one for each of the two tables, the balls were a mismatched mess, and the poor piece of chalk left a lot to be desired.

However we made the best of it, racked the balls and started the inaugural Runaway Bay Fall Open 8-ball championships.

The tables had more runs than a Mexican restaurant on Taco Tuesday but we rose to the challenge  and we had a ball playing on these relics.

In the end I won because I'm relaying the story, Cory was the close runner up while Tash and Sandra tied for 3rd.

The following morning it was back to the pool for anther day of rest and relaxation!

Kitty cat update from Bassan who made sure Boomer and Oscar were well fed and never got lonely while we were gone!

The next morning gastro hit the Pittman crew which left Cory and the kids room bound while Sandra, Tash and I headed to breakfast and on to the pool.
