December 19, 2025 Earlier this year French sold off his Yamaha Grizzly and Argo 8x8 then picked up a beautiful Can Am Outlander 6x6. Torn between buying a track set or a snowmobile, he opted for the latter when he came across this beautiful 2022 Yamaha VK540 with just over 100km on the clock! December 14, 2025 Tonight our Wednesday double jeopardy team out of WSC Torbay Road received our 1st place in the Division prizes from last session. October 3, 2025 This past weekend we headed out to Slaney's camp in Central Newfoundland for a work weekend cutting firewood and starting a new ATV trail into camp. August 28, 2025 This week Sandra and I took a vacation to Miami Florida where we boarded the beautiful Carnival Horizon for an eight day cruse to the ABC islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. August 25, 2025 Our new on ground vegetable garden is growing very well. We have been experiencing drought conditions and high temperatures all summer which has been brutal on our grass. August 10, 2025 This year has been incredibly busy with projects around the house. I've been making repairs, cutting grass and building out the new vegetable garden and greenhouse. All of our outdoor patios & stairs really needed to be painted so that is what I took on this past week. August 9, 2025 This summer has been incredibly hot and dry, which unfortunately led to a number of large forest fires across the Island. A huge conflagration destroyed hundreds of homes in Conception Bay North near Western Bay, then at the same time another fire fire sparked and rapidly went out of control just west of Paddy's pond. Skies were filled with smoke for weeks and it took incredible work by firefighters and ultimately help from mother nature to bring the situation under control Photo Credit: Mike Smith

April 10, 2025 Over the past few weeks I have been updating older Crew Adventure articles on the website. The font size has been increased on older articles to become readable on a smart phone. The biggest change is that I've added hyperlinks throughout each story (going back to 2005) linking project build stories (sleds, ATV's Bikes) from Area51 and Product Review articles right into each adventure in which we used them! I also finally organized and edited down hundreds of trail cam photos from our last big game season, picked out my top 100 and published the article on the Crew Adventures page. April 8, 2025 These last few weeks in addition to some site updates I finally got around to writing a whole bunch of new product reviews. I've been meaning to do these for quite awhile now! This delay actually worked out well as some of the items are 3-5 years old so the reviews are more of a long term test where I can show how everything has held up. March 22, 2025 With Spring 2024 having arrived much earlier than it has in the past few years, I took full advantage of the beautiful warm day. I broke out some soapy water and the shopvac to clean out the insides of our Murano and the Silverado 2500HD. February 28, 2025 I've been playing CPA pool for just shy of 2 years with nearly 6 sessions under my belt. Last session (Fall 2024) I was stoked to finally achieve MVP in my skill bracket for the very first time with our Wednesday 8-Ball team. January 27, 2025 Its been an extremely slow start to winter here on the East Coast. We're at the end of January and have only recently experienced a little over a week of consistent freezing temperatures. January 5. 2025 This weekend the Avalon Peninsula experienced a weather event that doesn't occur all too often here in these parts. A massive offshore storm pushed up a very large storm surge, which coincided with high tide. This resulted in extremely high water levels as pictured here in St. John's Harbor. September 17, 2024 A rather disappointing post today as I finished my final service call at my favourite local hunting supply shop here in NL. It's true, unfortunately Outdoor Pros in Mount Pearl, NL is shutting down for good. They were my favourite shopping destination and a big supporter of my outdoor activities, I can safely say that 80-90% of the gear I currently use hunting, fishing, shooting and camping came from this fantastic establishment. September 13, 2024 It's Moosemas Eve here in Newfoundland as Big Game hunting officially opens one half hour before sunrise early tomorrow (Saturday) morning. Mark, Matthew, Michael, Bassan & Roger are all down in Area 36 eager to get out for an opening day hunt. Unfortunately I severely sprained my ankle just over a week ago and have therefore been sidelined for at least the next few weeks. Good luck to all hunters this year for whatever game you're after! August 29, 2024 Today the Royal Caribbean Serenade of the Seas cruise ship docked in St. John's. What makes this vessel unique is the adventure it's on, an Ultimate World Cruise. According to RC, this cruise lasts 274 nights, takes in 8 world wonders and visits 60+ countries before returning to home port. June 21, 2024 While checking mail at the Water Street Canada Post Station, I found a guy working hard polishing the marble facade of the entire building. May 5, 2024 This spring Mark and Terry have been flat out working on their Gander River Boat Project. Earlier this year they picked up a mold for a 25' version of these sturdy and very unique craft. They spent a lot of time repairing imperfections before laying fiberglass for their first hull. The project is coming along extremely well, can't wait to see her on the water! April 22, 2024 This week Dad and I took a ride into his backwoods camp to install a memorial for his late buddy Kevin King who passed away suddenly earlier this month. Kevin was a great buddy to dad and the Bay Roberts crew as they enjoyed countless trips in the woods on ATV, Side by Side and snowmobiles, and many more days Woking on projects in the shed. April 12, 2024 A ride into camp became much more complicated on the way home for Dad this week! A bolt for recently installed new tie rod ends failed spectacularly leaving Dad no way to steer or drive the machine. With the help of his well stocked custom tool kit and a buddy who brought in a replacement bolt the machine was repaired in short order. March 8-9, 2024 Snowmageddon 2024!? Maybe not but this storm rivalled the 100cm Blizzard in 2020 with over 80cm on the ground right across the Avalon! Whatever you call it, this was certainly an epic storm which started in the early morning hours Friday continuing right through to Saturday morning. As many have said, the combination of wind and sticky snow left an accumulation like no storm in recent memory, including Snowmageddon 2020. November 7, 2023 I've really and truly enjoyed these last few months playing CPA league 8&9-ball billiards with Sandra and our amazing teams. I started this journey back in May when I picked up an inexpensive McDermott Lucky cue after our last Corner Brook trip. This week I upgraded to a used mint condition 2016 Predator SP2 Revo Limited cue with a leather wrapped SP2 butt and Revo 12.9mm carbon fiber shaft. I had the guys at Jenkins & Puddicomb Sheet Metal fab up a custom cover and they did a tremendous job! A quick coat of paint was all that was needed to put the unit in service. January 29, 2023 Sunday fun day, today Mark, Stroh and Matthew got together for a BBQ and complete some mods on Mark's enclosed trailer. This unit carries his ATV, Side by Side and Argo, but also doubles as sleeping quarters on Moose Hunting & Salmon Fishing trips. January 28, 2023 Evening in the garage tidying up and taking care of one last maintenance item on the Argo. A fresh application of RainX products! I use regular RainX on the outside of the front glass windshield, and Anti-Fog on the inside which works great. October 8, 2022 Happy Thanksgiving! In addition to a traditional turkey dinner with Dad and Iris, I wanted to try Spatchcock turkey on the smoker. March 11, 2022 This week my new fly fishing outfit arrived. It's a G•Loomis NRX+ 7wt 10' Fly Rod, Lamson Lightning F7+ Reel and Airflo Superflow Power Taper line. So far I've practiced in the backyard, and this setup is a canon, I'm very happy with the feel and casting power into the wind! Can't wait for salmon fishing! February 28, 2022 I find very few kitchen gadgets noteworthy, but actually came across this unit on Instagram while creating some epic reels (which you check out here). It's a simple pump for filling glasses without lifting the container. We use it all the time adding milk to Tea & Coffee, you simply open the fridge door, press mug against the trigger and viola! I've found these pumps for sale on Amazon & EBay while the glass jug pictured came from Canadian Tire. Photo Credit: Mike Smith
February 26, 2022 I'm very pleased to announce that the 3rd and final phase of my catch up series of website updates is finally complete and now LIVE! Today you can find winter adventures and a post 2021 salmon fishing gear review on the Crew Adventures page, and more additions to the Outdoor Lifestyle Product Reviews page. However the big news and the largest single addition to the site is the launch of our brand new Shed-Headz Grill Masters section! We have been grilling for a long time so this section already has a lot of content featuring pics from our grilling/smoking conquests, backwoods boil-ups, how to's (more like how we did it!), recipes, and equipment reviews. February 24, 2022 Last week crew member Andrew French flew to Ottawa to take delivery of his brand new Tesla Model Y, the first electric vehicle in our group! It is an absolutely beautiful vehicle and so drastically different than traditional automobiles it was a sight to see! Matthew, Mark, Andrew, Stroh and I spent the evening applying Avalon King (#notasponsor) ceramic coating to the glass and paint of Andrew's new whip. February 22, 2022 Our crazy roller coaster winter continues with more mild weather this week. Ponds really aren't good now, the open water in the background was one of our fishing destinations last winter! Temperatures are supposed to drop this weekend and through next week.
