September 13, 2024 It's Moosemas Eve here in Newfoundland as Big Game hunting officially opens one half hour before sunrise early tomorrow (Saturday) morning. Mark, Matthew, Michael, Bassan & Roger are all down in Area 36 eager to get out for an opening day hunt. Unfortunately I severely sprained my ankle just over a week ago and have therefore been sidelined for at least the next few weeks. Good luck to all hunters this year for whatever game you're after! May 5, 2024 This spring Mark and Terry have been flat out working on their Gander River Boat Project. Earlier this year they picked up a mold for a 25' version of these sturdy and very unique craft. April 22, 2024 This week Dad and I took a ride into his backwoods camp to install a memorial for his late buddy Kevin King who passed away suddenly earlier this month. Kevin was a great buddy to dad and the Bay Roberts crew as they enjoyed countless trips in the woods on ATV, Side by Side and snowmobiles, and many more days Woking on projects in the shed. Kevin is greatly missed by all who knew him, rest in peace good buddy. Check out some additional pics on the Crew Adventures page. Photo Credit: Randy Smith
April 12, 2024 A ride into camp became much more complicated on the way home for Dad this week! A bolt for recently installed new tie rod ends failed spectacularly leaving Dad no way to steer or drive the machine. With the help of his well stocked custom tool kit and a buddy who brought in a replacement bolt the machine was repaired in short order. Check out more pics under Project Commander on the Projects in the Shed page. Photo Credit: Randy Smith

Whatever you call it, this was certainly an epic storm which started in the early morning hours Friday continuing right through to Saturday morning. As many have said, the combination of wind and sticky snow left an accumulation like no storm in recent memory, including Snowmageddon 2020. Check out all the photos from the crew and I on the Crew Adventures page. Photo Credit: Mike Smith

November 7, 2023 I've really and truly enjoyed these last few months playing CPA league 8&9-ball billiards with Sandra and our amazing teams. October 19, 2022 This week I headed to Bay Roberts to help Dad with a few projects around the Bay House. October 12, 2022 Today I finally got to make my favourite home made moose sausages. These use wild game sausage mix from Outdoor Pros, fresh diced Jalapeño, and my own cold smoked old cheddar cheese. Meat is a 60/40 ration of moose to Costco lean ground pork. Photo Credit: Mike Smith
October 8, 2022 Happy Thanksgiving! In addition to a traditional turkey dinner with Dad and Iris, I wanted to try Spatchcock turkey on the smoker. Cutting out the centre bone was easy, some simple salt-pepper-garlic and on the Pitboss it went. The bird turned out great with a very unique flavor, a first for me and certainly not the last. September 14, 2022 Moose Hunt 2022 week one. With hurricane Earl interrupting our opening weekend hunt, we took a few days the following week logging lots of hours in the country. We haven't had any luck just yet but with so much fresh sign I'm sure it wont be long. Photo Credit: Mike Smith

April 5, 2022 Out goes March and with it another month of "not much of a winter", so now we are finally into spring. Although it would have been great to have colder winter conditions we can't control the weather. The crew is already looking forward to warmer weather and more outdoor activities, including trouting, salmon fishing, camping, ATV rips, and more! Photo Credit: Mike Smith
April 4, 2022 Winter trouting season is not over yet as Slaney hauled in a beautiful resident Brown Trout on fly rod this week! Photo Credit: Terry Slaney
April 3, 2022 This past weekend Mark French turned 40. Check out the full story and pics on the Crew Adventures page! Photo Credit: Heather French
March 31, 2022 In this weeks update I added a bunch of fresh content to the new Shed-Headz Grill Masters page. March 11, 2022 This week my new fly fishing outfit arrived. It's a G•Loomis NRX+ 7wt 10' Fly Rod, Lamson Lightning F7+ Reel and Airflo Superflow Power Taper line. So far I've practiced in the backyard, and this setup is a canon, I'm very happy with the feel and casting power into the wind! Can't wait for salmon fishing! Stay tuned for a 2022 fishing gear update article. Photo Credit: Mike Smith
March 4, 2022 Its been a sad winter for snow, and up until today any snow received saw the Argo remain parked as I fully expected each good snowfall to be followed by more snow and better riding conditions. However that changed today as I finally put project 6x6's tracks on fresh powder for a quick afternoon jaunt. Check out the pics from this beautiful day on the Crew Adventures page. Photo Credit: Mike Smith
March 3, 2022 Today Dad and I took advantage of another short weather window as its been cold for a week and just a handful of ponds again became safe enough to walk on. Ice thickness today was about 4", no good for machine but OK to walk out and set a few lines. Check out trouting & boil up pics on the Crew Adventures page. Photo Credit: Mike Smith
February 28, 2022 I find very few kitchen gadgets noteworthy, but actually came across this unit on Instagram while creating some epic reels (which you check out here). It's a simple pump for filling glasses without lifting the container. We use it all the time adding milk to Tea & Coffee, you simply open the fridge door, press mug against the trigger and viola! I've found these pumps for sale on Amazon & EBay while the glass jug pictured came from Canadian Tire. Photo Credit: Mike Smith
February 26, 2022 I'm very pleased to announce that the 3rd and final phase of my catch up series of website updates is finally complete and now LIVE! Today you can find winter adventures and a post 2021 salmon fishing gear review on the Crew Adventures page, and more additions to the Outdoor Lifestyle Product Reviews page. However the big news and the largest single addition to the site is the launch of our brand new Shed-Headz Grill Masters section! We have been grilling for a long time so this section already has a lot of content featuring pics from our grilling/smoking conquests, backwoods boil-ups, how to's (more like how we did it!), recipes, and equipment reviews. Hope you enjoy it! Photo Credit: Mike Smith
February 24, 2022 Last week crew member Andrew French flew to Ottawa to take delivery of his brand new Tesla Model Y, the first electric vehicle in our group! It is an absolutely beautiful vehicle and so drastically different than traditional automobiles it was a sight to see! Matthew, Mark, Andrew, Stroh and I spent the evening applying Avalon King (#notasponsor) ceramic coating to the glass and paint of Andrew's new whip. This will give it maximum protection against the crazy climate here in NL. Look for a full write-up and pics here soon! Photo Credit: Mike Smith
February 23, 2022 In more exciting vehicle news, this week after months of searching Janes finally found and purchased his dream truck, a beautiful 80's square body Chevy! This truck is an '85 single cab short box, V8, standard shift 3/4 ton absolute unit! Look for a full write-up this spring when he puts it on the road. Photo Credit: Brad Janes
February 22, 2022 Our crazy roller coaster winter continues with more mild weather this week. Ponds really aren't good now, the open water in the background was one of our fishing destinations last winter! Temperatures are supposed to drop this weekend and through next week. Will that be enough to salvage some ice fishing? Too soon to tell but our fingers and toes are crossed! Photo Credit: Mike Smith
February 22, 2022 Website update Phase 2 is now live! Check out the Highlights pictures below, and the Outdoor Lifestyle Product Reviews page for a ton of new products purchased and tested by the Shed-Headz Crew. February 15, 2022 This week we finally received the 40+cm snowfall we've been waiting all winter for! The snowfall occurred in back to back storms Monday into Tuesday. Unfortunately torrential rains and gale force winds completely wiped out the fresh powder by the weekend! More pics of this rollercoaster winter on the Crew Adventures page. Photo Credit: Mike Smith
February 12, 2022 This weekend Dad and I took advantage of a break in the weather to get in a morning trouting near Whitbourne. The forecast called for rain in the afternoon so we hit the road early expecting only to be able to cast from shore into open water. Check out pics from the adventure on the Crew Adventures page. Photo Credit: Mike Smith

February 5, 2022 In this week's chapter of "A brutal winter" we had a pretty severe ice storm come through the entire island. Luckily the freezing rain was not accompanied by wind so damage to power lines and properly was pretty insignificant. Photo Credit: Randy Smith

February 1, 2022 Opening Day of winter trouting season 2022 was a pretty severe shock for most of us here on the east coast. Most ponds are beyond bad and unsafe to walk on during this unseasonably mild winter. I managed a few hours trouting in open water without success, fingers crossed that conditions improve! Check out the rest of the pics on the Crew Adventures page. Photo Credit: Mike Smith
January 31, 2022 Happy B-day Dad! Photo Credit: Mike Smith
January 29, 2022 This weekend I took advantage of a narrow weather window to do a shakedown run of my new Hot Tent set up. It was lovely and cold Friday evening, but a storm of wind and rain was forecast to start Saturday afternoon. Check out the full story of both mine and Mark French's Hot Tent builds on the Projects in the Shed page. Photo Credit: Mike Smith
