Honda's big-4 was introduced in 1969, it was one of the first (in a long time) I4 ready for public consumption, and the first stock bike to introduce a disc brake on the front wheel. The four cylinder, four carburetor four into four exhaust had a sound that is readily identifiable and not matched to this day.

Dad purchased his 1972 750 brand new that year and still owns it to this day (2025). In 1996 Dad and I spent a day doing some maintenance outside our old tiny shed. Carburetors were cleaned, fuel tank drained, oil changed and some new spark plugs and an air filter installed.

In 2022 Dad decided to resurrect his 1972 Honda CB750 motorcycle on its 50th anniversary of ownership for a season of summer cruises. It had been sitting safely stored in his garage just waiting for its next adventure.

First he completed some maintenance items including draining the fuel tank and the carburetors, then refilling with one gallon fresh fuel mixed with half a can of seafoam. This was left to soak for over a week, drained and refilled with fresh supreme fuel. Next the oil was drained and refilled with new, and the bike started up with ease and ran great!

Next up was replacing the broken starter/kill switch assembly which had simply cracked and broken with age. Dad sourced a brand new replacement online and installed on the right handlebar.

The headlight was removed to install a fresh replacement so he took the opportunity to clean up some of the wiring behind the light. For many years Dad ran a front fairing & windshield which had signal light attached. Since its been removed the original OEM lights were reinstalled next to the headlight in the factory location.

So with many days work complete, Dad hit the road leaving from Bay Roberts and riding quiet back roads all the way to Old Perlican and return.

April 2025 Update: Dad has the CB750 hauled out, polished up and tuned up meaning he's all ready for another summer of riding. This season he removed the hard saddle bags and mounts as they are in need of repair which we will look at later this summer.

Cheers, MIKE
