March 24, 2026: Winter Storm Warning! (10 Photos) |
|
March 20, 2026 Ever since the great spring snowmelt a couple weeks ago, its been pretty quiet here on the East Coast. We received approximately 15cm on the 20th which mostly melted over the following couple of days.
On Tuesday morning we awoke to another dump of fresh springtime snow. Forecasters called for 30-50cm to fall over the Avalon Peninsula, we ended up on the low end of that with about 31cm on the ground by midday Tuesday before it turned to rain.
Once again rain meant another workout for the Honda 9/28 relocating very heavy snow from the driveway out across the lawn throwing directly into the wind.
Drifts around the truck and trailer were significant, but the rest of the driveway was only about half the height of the bucket on the Snowblower.
All in all it took about an hour and a half to get everything cleaned up. One good thing around the rain and warm temps is that the remaining snow will be gone by suppertime leaving the driveway ice free.
While I cleared, Sandy cooked. On the menu today was a lovely turkey dinner including turnip and carrot from our garden. I don't expect this snow to last very long as it's supposed to rain again Friday. Right now the woods are tangly, brooks and puddles are broke open making for a hard ride on snowmobile, and there's too much snow for the bike right now. Tracks on the Argo would be ideal, but I have one set damaged pretty significantly at the moment. I guess we'll wait and see what the weekend brings!
Cheers, MIKE
