May 16-19, 2025: May 24th Holiday Weekend (16 Photos)

It's hard to believe that the May 24th Holiday weekend, the unofficial start of camping season here on the East Coast, is here already!

This year we decided to put in a backyard vegetable garden, we've been making plans and growing starter plants indoors for a few weeks now.

Taking advantage of a beautiful clear weather forecast we had a tandem load of screened topsoil delivered right before the start of the long weekend.

Friday through Saturday we grubbed off the sods & weeds then started wheeling in the soil to create a planter bed about 15" deep.

It was a ton of work but by Saturday afternoon we had the work we wanted to get done this weekend completed.

No good job is done without a proper supervisor!

Saturday evening we got together with our pool crowd for a Barbeque, we were graciously hosted by good friends Shasha and Harvey.

Everyone brought meat for the Q while sides were bottomless and just incredible.

It was an absolutely fantastic night and we can't wait to get together again!

Sunday was spent mostly relaxing however I did manage to get the grass cut. This was great to get done as it was calling for showers Monday afternoon.

On Monday of the Holiday weekend I decided it was as good a time as any to clean up the garage which had gotten way out of shape after the winter and a few spring projects.

I was very happy to get this done, being organized will make upcoming projects so much better!

Just a great ending to a weekend of hard work and beautiful weather!

Monday night, rainy night movies and an indoor campfire!

Cheers, MIKE
