February 21, 2025: Winter Storm Warning! (10 Photos)

Since our last major storm back on January 10th we've enjoyed fairly typical Newfoundland winter weather. Infrequent minor snowfalls and consistent cold temperatures. Hopefully this trend continues so we can safely enjoy some Ice Fishing very soon as ponds are not very safe around these parts just yet.

Today snowfall and winds ramped up around noon and became quite dirty near suppertime as snowfall rates increased and winds intensified gusting to 100kph.

By Friday evening our driveway was already well and truly socked in!

Our storm supper today was individual homemade pizzas crafted from Sandra & Shelagh's own sour dough! We cooked each pizza in a real hot oven on a pizza stone and they turned out absolutely fantastic. Be sure to check out the Newfoundland Grillers, Smokers and Boil-Ups page for more winter cooking stories!

Snowfall mostly clued up by midnight with 26cm on the ground but high winds persisted overnight building beautiful snowdrifts. With everything closed and no where to go I waited until  Saturday morning to clear the driveway.

Thankfully the basement door wasn't filled in quite as bad as it was after the last Blizzard!

Our trusty and reliable Honda 9/28 Snowblower went to work and got the driveway cleared with no fuss at all, it was a lot of snow but nothing these epic machines can't handle.

Another day, another storm and another cleanup completed!

Cheers, MIKE
