Caribbean Cruise August 28-September 9, 2025: Part 2 |
|
Day 3, second sea day, about half way to the ABC islands!
Once again we enjoyed an absolutely delicious breakfast in the Meridian Restaurant. The buffet is great but the restaurant is just another notch above.
Stocked up with complimentary beer from the casino we headed to the aft pool on Deck 10 to spend most of the day lounging in the sun and the refreshing pool. We picked up a couple of thermal mugs at Bass Pro which were absolutely fantastic for keeping our beverages cold throughout the long days outside in the Caribbean heat.
For lunch we decided to hit up Guy's Burger joint which is a fantastic food vendor located on Deck 10 near the amidships pool. It was absolutely delicious and one that is included in our cruise fare!
For supper we once again chose the ultra flexible Your Time Dining at the Meridian Restaurant. Tonight I enjoyed an appetizer of Jambalaya and a Greek salad.
My entree tonight was grilled swordfish over fingerling potato and fava beans with a citrus saffron sauce.
The Bahama Mama was absolutely amazing!
My dessert tonight was the Bitter and Blanc with a rich creamy sauce while Sandy enjoyed her favorite chocolate melting cake.
Tonight's performance in the Liquid Lounge was the Vintage Pop Show. This was modern music set to a Roaring 20's theme and was easily one of our favorite shows of the trip.
Day 3 Aruba! On port days breakfast in the Meridian restaurant closes early so Sandy and I being late sleepers checked out the main buffet on Deck 10 for breakfast.
On port days many guests partake in shore excursions leaving the ship nearly empty!
Sandy and I didn't see any excursions worth the time and money and chose to tour the port on our own with just two simple goals: to find an Aruba magnet for the fridge, and an Aruba ornament for our Christmas tree.
We spent a couple hours in town before heading back to the peaceful tranquility of a nearly empty ship where stopped to the main buffet for lunch.
After lunch we got changed and took advantage of a mostly empty ship and very un-crowded pool!
We changed up our routine a little this evening opting to take in the early Deal or No Deal show in the Liquid Lounge heading down for supper afterwards. This is the great benefit of Your Time Dining.
In the Meridian Restaurant I ordered the Hawaiian Shrimp Poke and a Cesar Salad for my appetizers.
Meanwhile Sandra tried out the BBQ Beef spring rolls and the bacon spaghetti carbonara.
We both chose the delicious roasted beef sirloin for our entrees, mine medium rare and Sandy's well done.
For desert, Sandy chose her usual chocolate melting cake while I ordered the delicious Cappuccino Pot de Crème which was out of this world.
After supper we headed up on the smoking area which was located on Deck 11 aft to chat with our new friends from Louisville & Miami. From here we had a great view for the sail out from Aruba.
Day 4 Bonaire!
Breakfast this morning was at the main buffet which sure hit the spot.
While getting ready to go ashore we got to see & hear some of the weekly lifeboat and safety systems drills this morning.
Once again we did not book any excursions in Bonaire choosing instead to take a quick tour of the town ourselves.
After a quick visit ashore we headed back to a mostly empty ship to enjoy a quiet and absolutely delicious lunch at the Blue Iguana Deck 10 near the amidships pool. This vendor, like Guy's Burgers is an included venue and serve up delicious made to order soft shell tacos and burritos.
Supper was once again in the Meridian Restaurant. My appetizer tonight was fried shrimp with a roasted red pepper sauce.
Sandy chose the Lasagna for her entree,
while I tried the Veal schnitzel.
For desert I chose the Dutch Double Chocolate Pave Cake which was paired with raspberry and cream sauces.
After our delicious meal we headed back to the Liquid Lounge for another evening of entertainment. Tonight was the Family Feud show which featured two families vacationing aboard going head to head in this show based on the popular TV program.
Final Port: Curacao and return to Miami!
