January 20, 2024: Torbay ATV Rip (17 Photos)

After what's been way too long since my last ATV rip, today I finally got out for my first snow ride of the season. So far this year we've had cold weather, a few snow storms, a mild spell and recently 10cm of fresh snow squalls so trail conditions should be interesting.

Project Foreman continues to run well, these Mud Lite XTR Radials are fantastic in the snow, when the trails get icy I have a second set studded and ready to go! All of the main trails were in great shape today, mostly covered in ice and very hard packed snow so traction was not an issue.

Side trails were still soft but not enough to cause any trouble for a well equipped bike like Project Foreman.

Even the largest puddles on the Airport Fence trail were well frozen which made for a very smooth and clean winter ride.

The only place I found any quantity of deep fresh powder was over on the east side of the airport near Majors Path. This section of trail was a lot of fun, the fresh snow was dry but dense and in places quite deep. Completely untouched it was really the limit of what Project Foreman could handle and but it pulled through like a champ!

I was almost home when I had something hit my helmet similar to being hit with a softball. I looked back and found this Grouse strutting around, he must have flew right into the side of my helmet.

He was surprisingly tame and stuck around for quite awhile before eventually wandering off into the brush. All in all another great afternoon on the trails.

Cheers, MIKE
