Tool: Ridgid JobMax X4 Specs: Battery operated 18V multi-head tool.
Review: The Ridgid JobMax is a base tool with
interchangeable head system that includes an oscillating cutting tool. Optional
tool heads sold separately include an angle drill, angle impact driver, jigsaw
and reciprocating saw heads. My main reason for buying this was the multi tool
head for cutting light rail mouldings on kitchen cabinets when installing tiled
backsplashes. Not all cabinet installers would leave space for tile and cutting
tile around the moulding can be a pain. The multi tool works great for that job.
Having the option to install the blades in just about any direction also helps
getting the tool into tight spaces.
Surprisingly, this oscillating multi tool has become of the most
versatile tools we have on jobsites. We use it to remove excess mortar from
grout lines prior to grouting, as a scraper to remove mortar from plywood floors
when replacing tile and cutting doors jambs, door trim and drywall to get that
perfect grout line.
I have a few other Ridgid 18V tools so I purchased this as a bare
tool. I have extra 1.5 and 2.0 Amp/hr batteries so the bare tool was a good
option. The multi tool isn’t used for long intervals so it works just fine on
these smaller batteries. Cheers, A. Bassan Copyright © 2011 Michael Smith
