Mike's Product Review:

Olight Marauder 2

March 29, 2025

Mark French, Michael Stroh and I kicked off a trend amongst our crew back in the summer of 2021. We took a gamble and ordered up three of what were regarded as one of the brightest LED flashlights readily available at that time. We had previous great experiences with other Olight products so we were certain that they would at least be a quality piece, but the brightest? We weren't sure.

Features:

Switchable from 14,000 lumen flood to 800m throw

Seven output levels to extend battery life

Proximity sensor to dim the light when it's too close to an object

Capable of 30w charging and 30w reverse charging

IPX8 Waterproof rating

The charge port has a retractable cover operated by twisting the base of the light. The flashlight is waterproof but this door helps keep foreign objects out of the connector.

The outer row of powerful LED's constitute the flood pattern while the centre glass concentrates a crazy amount of light into a small area for an 800m throw!

The dial is used to scale back the brightness as it's extremely bright at full power. This greatly extends battery life, although the light is rated to run three hours at full power! First impressions were that these units were very stout and well made. Not too heavy, great feel and stubby, while not pocket size they wouldn't take up an exorbitant amount of room in a backpack.

When we finally got to test them after dark we were just blown away by the powerful output. In flood mode it was similar in brightness as the 20" LED light bar on Project 6x6!

In spotlight mode it casts a very concentrated square pattern of light an incredible distance that is easily usable to the naked eye and even requires binoculars to view objects at its greatest range!

These new flashlights are just incredible and have been an absolutely amazing tool on early morning hunts, fishing trips, camping and even during power outages.

Cheers, Mike
