Sitka Hudson Suit

March 31, 2025

Fall of 2022 was my first season with my new Sitka Hudson suit, the pants pictured here are actually Sitka Grinder as the Hudson bibs were still out of stock at that time. The Grinder pants are water resistant and non-insulated, ideal for early season hunts. The crew at Outdoor Pros were fantastic to deal with, and no, neither OP nor Sitka are a sponsor, I love to promote local businesses and quality products.

This is a very technologically advanced piece of kit, it's made from three layer Gore-Tex® so it's windproof, water proof and breathable. It utilizes Gore-Tex® stretch technology in key areas to allow unrestricted movement in tight spaces such as raising a firearm to shoot. Body mapped PrimaLoft® Gold insulation keeps you warm and cozy while minimizing bulk. The inner micro fleece fabric, water sealing gasket cuffs, and neck opening are all super soft and comfortable. There is no bunching of material, the zippers are amazing and the pocket flaps even have magnets to hold them open and out of the way.

The colour I chose was their Optifade Waterfowl Timber which at a glance is predominantly grey, while the Optifade Waterfowl Marsh is mostly brown/tan. For 2025 they offer the Hudson in a non-camo pattern, tawny brown.

The suit is very well constructed and extremely comfortable even in warmer early fall weather. Paired with my  Lacrosse Alphaburry Pro boots I no longer feel uncomfortable during a long cold day in the woods. Purchasing premium quality hunting gear has been a very long time coming for me. While premium gear is not necessary for the enjoyment of year-round outdoor activities, the few high end items I do have are very much appreciated by this hunter.

In freezing temperatures during our November 2022 Glenwood Hunting/ATV Trip I became even more impressed and appreciative of my new Sitka Hudson suit. Thankfully Outdoor Pros received their order just prior to this trip so I picked up the matching Hudson bib's which are fully waterproof and insulated like the jacket. This suit was perfectly matched for this adventure where we had temps near -5ºC plus wind-chill from riding ATV's, wet trails, I never once felt cold.

If you're looking for a quality suit I can't recommend Sitka enough, these suits utilize the very latest technology for warmth, durability and comfort. Mark French's Sitka suit is over 10 years old, while it was pricey at the time, it has certainly stood the test of time as its still in near perfect shape. This in my opinion makes it a great value.

After three seasons I'm still very pleased with this suit. I've worn it dozens and dozens of times in all sorts of conditions and it just keeps impressing me, its the most comfortable kit I have. It's an obvious great choice for Fall hunting but has worked equally as well in early Winter, and Spring trouting & ATV riding.

Cheers, Mike
