LOOP Gielas Rain Jacket

Arpil 8, 2025

Before even starting Salmon Fishing I knew I would need a quality lightweight rain shell/windbreaker. Comfort and reliability is something I didn't want to sacrifice so I invested in a quality jacket, the LOOP Gielas LW. It's easy to plan single day trouting trips around good weather, but when taking a week off work for a West Coast Salmon Fishing adventure you need to take advantage of every day on the river regardless of the weather.

This shell will keep you comfortable with its triple layer construction including Sympatex membrane which is LOOP's version of Gortex. It's a breathable waterproof material that functions perfectly as both a windbreaker and raincoat on many fishing trips last year. It has held up great and should provide years of service. There are cheaper and more expensive shells on the market, this one seemed to be the best value at the time of purchase.

This shell is obviously not insulated so I purchased it one size larger to fit over other clothing on cool early/late season days in the country. I've had this jacket four years at the time of this writing and it has held up absolutely perfect.

Cheers, Mike
