I had a great first ever Salmon Fishing (and Fly Fishing period) season in 2021, this year I wanted to upgrade my used (and now damaged Scott A2 rod & economical reel) and my replacement entry level Loop Q series setup with something real slick for salmon fishing. My Scott A2 is being repaired as my wall hanger/backup & the Loop Q is great for trout.

I did a lot of research and decided on this beautiful G•Loomis NRX+ in 10' length & 7wt. I went on the recommendation of Jeremy Meadus at Outdoor Pros when choosing a Reel and Line to pair with it, ending up with this gorgeous Lamson Litespeed F7 and Airflo Superflo Power Taper line. This is the exact same setup he uses personally so I was confident that it would not only look absolutely outstanding, but perform beautifully as well.

The rod came in this slick and sturdy metal case, and was neatly wrapped in a custom cloth holder for ultimate protection during transportation & storage.

Our annual trip to the Lomond River on the West Coast of NL in Gros Morne National Park was my first time on the river with the new setup. I was super impressed with the ease that I as a fairly new caster could get line out with ease. No more struggle bus like last year (a large part of of that was from my Scott A2 paired with an inappropriate line).

I had no trouble casting the entire head (which is conveniently colored orange) of this Airflo line straight into the wind many days on this trip, it was purely a pleasure to cast.

Proof is in the pudding, great equipment certainly made the trip for me, catching and tagging a Salmon was the icing on the cake!
