Steve's 2000 4 Door Sunfire was originally purchased to be a fun (5-speed manual) every day driver to and from school. He personalized the car with painted to match Headlight Covers & Hood Protector

The following summer the modification bug started to take hold as he ordered and installed an Eibach Sportline 1.5" lowering kit, 17" polished aluminum rims, Strut tower braces and had the windows tinted. A vibrant axel back exhaust & K&N air filter was installed as well.

Steve's first car show was Bay Wheels in Bay Roberts.

Cosmetic changes started with a new Fiberglass hood which incorporated a functional ram air hood scoop, the installation of a GT model Front Bumper with factory fog lamps, and a custom trunk lit with shaved inner tail lights and a trunk lid spoiler from a 2001 Dodge Neon.

In 2003 Steve and I both competed in and helped out with Vinland Motorsports efforts to kick start Solo II or Autocross events here in St. John's. The first events were held at Confederation building.

Steve's small light car did well at Autocross events and spurred him on to improve the car especially for these events. In the following years he installed Front and Rear 1" Swaybars, Rear tie bar, front lower subframe brace, Koni Yellow Coil overs, and a set of dedicated special race tires mounted on lightweight 16" GM wheels.

Steve's modified Sunfire did very very well in autocross beating BMW E30's and even an M3 taking first place in points in his 3rd or 4th year racing. The Sunfire is still in stock, and currently in storage.

Cheers, MIKE
