Southern Style Coleslaw


 

Ingredients:

Sauce Ingredients:

1 Package of Supermarket Coleslaw Mix

(Shredded Cabbage, Red Cabbage & Carrot)

1/2 Cup Sugar (up to 3/4 cup)
2 TBSP Salt

Thinly Sliced Green Pepper

2/3 Cup Vegetable Oil

Cherry Tomatoes

1 tsp Mustard Powder
1 Medium Sweet Onion thinly sliced 1 tsp Celery Seed
  2 Cups Vinegar (or Cider Vinegar)

Combine all of the Sauce ingredients in a pot, mix thoroughly and bring to a boil to dissolve the sugar. Simmer on Low for 5 minutes.

 

 

 

In another bowl combine the Salad Ingredients, make the proportions of each to your own liking.

 

 

 

 

Pour hot sauce over the salad and toss well which will wilt the cabbage, refrigerate until chilled before serving. Leftovers can be covered and refrigerated, left over sauce keeps well in a sealed sterilized mason jar. I recently tried this sauce over stir-fry and it was absolutely amazing!
